Address Shield for Shopify · Last updated 3 September 2026
1. Who these terms are with
Address Shield ("the app") is provided by Kernhill Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17430477) ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, uninstall the app.
2. What the app does
The app checks shipping addresses at your checkout against pattern-based rules that you choose, and asks the customer to correct an address that does not match those rules. It runs inside Shopify's checkout validation runtime.
What it does not do: it does not verify that an address exists, is deliverable, or matches any postal database. It checks the text of the address against the rules you have enabled. It never cancels orders.
3. Your responsibilities
- You choose which checks are enabled. You are responsible for testing that your chosen settings behave as you expect at your own checkout.
- You are responsible for any ZIP or postal codes you choose to block, and for the commercial consequences of blocking them.
- You must comply with Shopify's terms and with applicable law.
4. The app is provided "as is"
We work hard to avoid false positives, but no address check is perfect. A legitimate address may occasionally be queried, and an undeliverable one may occasionally pass. The app is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the app — including lost orders, lost revenue, lost profits, or business interruption — is limited to the total fees you have paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim arose.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
6. Availability
We aim to keep the app available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The app depends on Shopify's platform, which is outside our control. We may change or discontinue features, and will give reasonable notice of material changes where we can.
7. Fees and cancellation
- Charges are handled entirely by Shopify and billed through your Shopify account.
- You can cancel at any time by uninstalling the app. Cancellation stops future charges; fees already paid are not refunded except where required by law.
- If your subscription lapses, the address checks stop running. Your checkout returns to Shopify's default behaviour.
8. Data
How we handle data is described in our Privacy Policy. In short: customer shipping addresses are evaluated inside Shopify's runtime and are never sent to our servers.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
