Frequently asked questions
Address Shield for Shopify · Last updated 4 September 2026
Does this address validation app work with Shop Pay, Apple Pay, PayPal and Google Pay?
Yes. Address validation runs inside Shopify's checkout validation, which covers express checkouts.
Does it work on my plan?
Yes. Every Shopify plan, including Basic.
What does it check at checkout?
Missing house numbers, missing apartment and suite numbers, and special characters or emojis that stop a shipping label printing. You can also block PO boxes and any zip or postal codes you do not ship to.
Can it block PO boxes?
Yes. Turn PO box blocking on and customers using a PO box are asked for a street address instead. It is off by default, so it stays your choice rather than ours. PO box wording is recognised in several languages, not only English.
Do you see my customers' addresses?
No. Address validation runs inside Shopify's own checkout. The address is never sent to our servers, never stored by us, and never shared. It is also why we ask for no access to your orders or customers.
Will it change my customers' addresses?
Never. If something looks wrong, the customer is asked to correct it at checkout. We leave the wording to them, because automatic correction can replace a correct address with a wrong one.
Will it cause false alarms on collection-point orders?
No. If a customer chooses a UPS Access Point or similar, that address belongs to the carrier rather than to them, so Address Shield leaves it alone instead of asking them to fix something they cannot change.
Can it cancel or hold orders?
No. Address Shield only ever asks the customer to fix something at checkout. It never cancels, holds or edits an order.
What happens if I cancel?
The checks stop and your checkout returns to Shopify's default behaviour. Nothing else changes.
Which languages are the checkout messages in?
English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Polish. Anywhere else, customers see English. The app's own admin is in English.
